# Manage Users

> Invite, edit, and remove users, assign roles, and handle join requests for your Mezmo organization's team.

Each Mezmo Organization allows for a certain number of users determined by your [plan](https://www.mezmo.com/pricing). Users who join your Mezmo Organization make up your Team. (Users were previously called Members.)

Organization administrators can:

* Add and remove Organization users
* Assign roles and privileges to users
* Limit each user's access to Mezmo resources
* Decide how Mezmo users can discover and join your Organization
* Toggle different methods of signing into your Organization

## Users

The Users screen shows each Mezmo Organization user with their email and [roles](/docs/rbac). The **Roles** column shows a role-name badge for each role a user holds. The owner shows an **Owner** badge plus a badge for each additional role the owner holds. You can also see how many people your plan lets you have on your team. From the [Roles](/docs/rbac) page, you can open this page filtered by user or by role.

## Invite Users

When you invite a user, Mezmo sends an email invitation to the address provided prompting the user to either create a Mezmo account or sign in using [SSO](/docs/enterprise-saml-sso).

To add a user:

1. Go to [Users](https://app.mezmo.com/manage/team) and click **Invite User**.
2. Enter the email address.
3. Select one or more [roles](/docs/rbac) from the roles selector. At least one role is required. The default role is **Basic**, and you can't select the **Owner** role.
4. Click **Invite User** to send the invitation.

## Edit a User

The same modal handles inviting and editing users. Open the edit view from the inline **Edit** (pencil) action on the user row. You can edit a user at any time, including while they have an outstanding invitation.

The email address is read-only when editing. Change a user's roles through the roles selector. At least one role is required to save.

### Edit the Account Owner

Only the owner can edit the owner. Other administrators can't. The owner adds and removes additional roles the same way as any other user, and the owner's email address is read-only when editing.

The **Owner** role is always kept and never appears in the roles selector, so the owner can save without selecting any additional role.

To change who the owner is, go to **Settings > Organization > General**. See [Change the Organization Owner](/docs/organization-management-overview#change-the-organization-owner) for details. You can't transfer ownership from the Users screen.

## Remove a User

To remove a user from your Organization, click **Remove** on the user row. This won't delete the user's account, but it revokes their membership to your Organization.

## Manage Join Requests

If your Organization is [discoverable](/docs/manage-access), users who aren't currently members of your Organization can ask to join it. When this happens, the email addresses configured to receive join request notifications will receive an email with links to either approve or deny the request. You can also use the Join Requests screen to review outstanding requests.
